You can take care of yourself and treat the most common foot problems with pure essential oils. These have active ingredients with properties indicated for skin care.

With a few ingredients you can make various products that take care of your feet and help you recover after an overload. As the remedies contain essential oils and these can cause allergic reactions, depending on individual sensitivity, it is advisable that you first test tolerance on a small area of the skin. Practice aromatherapy with your feet!
1. AVOID SWEATY FEET WITH BATH SALTS
A foot bath with salt, bicarbonate and essential oils soothes sweaty feet, cares for them and makes the skin feel silky.
Tea tree oil and lavender oil fight odor-causing bacteria, while sage essential oil prevents excessive sweating thanks to its astringent properties. Baking soda also deodorizes and softens the skin.
Ingredients (for 2 servings of salts):
- 1 cup salt (this can be sea salt, but normal household salt will work too)
- 1 tablespoon of baking soda
- 3 drops of tea tree essential oil
- 2 drops of sage essential oil
- 2 drops of lavender essential oil
- 1 teaspoon of optional vegetable oil, suitable for your skin type (sweet almond or sesame oil is appropriate for most people)
Elaboration:
- Mix the salt and baking soda in a bowl.
- Add the essential oils and stir the mixture with a spoon.
- If you want to add the vegetable oil (optional) do it now and stir until it is evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
- Add the vegetable oil with a spoon and stir until it is evenly distributed in the mixture.
- Place in a jar with a lid and you are ready to use.
To do the foot bath, mix half a cup in a basin of warm water (36-40 ° C) and soak your feet in it for about 20 minutes. Then briefly rinse your feet with lukewarm water and pat them dry.
2. RELAXING MASSAGE WITH OILS
If you’ve been on your feet all day, you’ll be happy to do something nice for your stressed feet. A relaxing massage will be ideal to eliminate tension at night. A mixture of coconut oil and lavender essential oil, which is prepared quickly, is suitable for this.
Lavender oil relaxes and disinfects at the same time. Coconut oil has an antimicrobial effect in massage oil, it is well absorbed and ensures smooth skin.
Ingredients:
- 30 g of coconut oil
- 7 drops of lavender essential oil
- Small screw-on jar for storage
Elaboration:
- Sanitize the jar.
- Measure out the coconut oil, pour it into the bowl, and let it melt in a warm place (on the stove or in the sun, depending on the season).
- Pour the lavender essential oil into the coconut oil and stir well.
- Put the jar in the fridge to cool quickly, preferably without a lid, so that condensation doesn’t form, which could lead to mold growth. When the coconut oil has settled, close the jar.
- To use, scoop some of the mixture into your hand and let it melt. Gently massage clean feet with it, especially emphasize the most stressed areas, such as the tips of the fingers.
3. INVIGORATING SPRAY FOR TIRED FEET WITH ESSENTIAL OILS
Stressed or swollen feet after a long day can be pleasantly refreshed with a foot spray. The spray also prevents common foot problems, such as athlete’s foot or inflammation.
Lemon essential oil improves mood, has an antiviral effect, and prevents inflammation. Peppermint essential oil helps against athlete’s foot, pleasantly refreshes and also provides a fresh fragrance. Rosemary strengthens tissues, promotes blood circulation, and has a fresh, herbaceous scent.
Ingredients:
- 100 ml of boiled or distilled water
- 7 drops of lemon essential oil
- 7 drops of peppermint essential oil
- 6 drops of rosemary essential oil
- 1 spray bottle with sprayer with 100 ml capacity
Elaboration:
- Fill the sterilized sprayer with water and essential oils, close it and shake the mixture vigorously before each use.
- Spray your feet with the mixture after bathing or showering. You can also do it when you are away from home, after practicing sports. Then simply let your feet dry.
You can substitute half the water for apple cider vinegar, which increases the preventive effect against athlete’s foot.
On the other hand, keep in mind that lemon essential oil increases the sensitivity of the skin to light. Therefore, it is better not to use the foot spray in strong sunlight, to avoid discoloration of the skin.
